David Mason Recruitment and Immigration Advisory Services (NZ) Limited.
Background
A significant labour shortage:
New Zealand is facing a significant skilled labour shortage with the construction sector in particular facing the biggest labour shortage in history.
There is no alternative to overseas recruitment for the foreseeable future.
Objections to the current recruitment model:
We have consulted with employers, HR Managers and overseas candidates in an effort to design a viable highly cost effective, ethical and totally transparent recruitment service.
We found there is widespread employer dissatisfaction with the traditional model based on fees charged on a percentage of salary.
There was real concern also that recruitment services provided by Immigration advisers could involve exploitation of employees i.e. that employees were effectively paying for jobs.
Specific Objections:
- Technology has made direct employer – candidate contact straightforward for most occupations.
- Most large employers have their own in-house recruiters and use of third parties is not required
- The commission imperative leads to poor vetting of candidates especially around settlement risk assessment.
- Overseas candidates changing employers post arrival
- Meaningless post- employment guarantees
The following services have been formulated in response to the issues highlighted above
Services to Employers:
1. Visa Services for your new employees
You recruit the candidate and send their details to us.
We assess visa eligibility and take care of all visa matters with written guarantee that no fees will be asked of candidates.
Your role is normally limited to provision of employment agreements and job descriptions.
We provide weekly reports on progress.
We can also provide settlement services on a “pay as you go” basis.
2. Combined recruitment and visa projects:
Recruitment projects are managed by Jim Nathaniel our UK based Recruitment Manager.
With a distinguished 30-year career in International Recruitment behind him (former Managing Director of the international division of one of the largest UK Labour Hire/recruitment organisations) behind him, Jim brings the experience, International contacts and trust built over a lifetime.
Jim has a candidate sourcing from a network of respected recruiters in: Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Finland, Italy, Ukraine and The Philippines.
Location?
Jim is UK based (Glasgow) with David dividing his time between the UK (London and Midlands) and NZ – interviewing and assisting candidates in Europe and liaising with employers in NZ.
Services?
Our preferred model is for employers to pay an agreed fee for specific recruitment services (promotion, vetting, reference checks) and agreed advertising.
Fees include visa services processing fees and NO fees paid by candidates.
Is a success-based model available?
Should you wish to use a success-based model let us know.
As we do not need expensive offices to be credible or an expensive administrative structure, we can normally provide a combined success – based recruitment and visa service for less than 50% of comparable service providers.
We can provide assistance to those employers who wish to travel to the UK to conduct their own candidate interviews.
Do you have a track record?
Since 2004 Jim and David have provided recruitment and/or visa services to some of NZ’s largest companies including:
- The Christchurch Engine Centre (an Air NZ/Pratt and Whitney joint venture)
- Tenix (now Downer EDI)
- Fulton Hogan Ltd
- JLE Electrical Ltd
- Bureau Veritas Ltd
- Capital Smart Repairs Pty NZ Ltd (Australia’s largest panel beater now in NZ)
